First Freeze

Today I really got into the "winter spirit," even though winter isn't officially for another two months. I wasn't kidding when I said in my last post that I was going to get the Bath and Body Works winter candles ASAP, so that's exactly what I did today! Since I had my mind set on winter from the start of today, this definitely influenced my outfit choice. Last night was officially the "first freeze" here on Long Island, so my number one priority today when I got dressed today was staying warm. The accessories really made this outfit since I decided to keep it simple and just go with jeans and a sweater. I added knee socks for a little something extra in terms of style and warmth. These braided headbands are also my new favorite accessory for the winter because not only do they keep your ears warm, they are adorable and come in so many different colors. I am also in love with my new jacket-it keeps me warm and it's a great color for the season!

Stripes and Mosaic Print

One of the things that makes fashion so much fun for me is mixing prints when putting together outfits. It challenges me to think outside of the box. I love outfits with mixed prints because they look effortless-like you didn't try- as opposed to outfits that are more "matchy-matchy," even though they actually might require a little more thought! Something to remember when thinking about prints is that stripes can be treated as a neutral; that was one of the keys to putting together this look. The print of these pants give me a vintage feel and mixing them with a black and white stripe adds a little interest to the look. If you want to branch out and try mixing prints, I recommend starting out with stripes!

Comfy Monday

What else could you expect to find me wearing on a lazy Monday other than sweatpants and a tee? Today was my day off and I spent it just hanging around the house and doing some errands, so this was a perfect outfit for both. I love this t-shirt because the quilted leather accents on the shoulders make it just a little more put-together to go out in than a plain old t-shirt. It was beautiful out today but still a little chilly so I threw on my go-to leather jacket that I pretty much live in during the fall. What's your go-to outfit on a lazy day?

Comfort and Style

No one is happier than me that sweatpants are actually one of the biggest trends right now. I love being able to be super comfy and in style at the same time. That's why I literally cannot stop buying all of these amazing pants. These ones are my absolute favorite and I think the fact that they are Whitney Eve makes me love them even more. I grew up watching The Hills and The City and idolizing Whitney Port so I love being able to wear things that were actually designed by her.  To make the look a little less casual, I like to wear dressier shirts with these pants. The look of these pants is definitely different and probably something most people are not used to, but I really think everyone can look adorable in them and should definitely keep an open mind and give them a try.

Thinking Pink

One of my biggest weaknesses during the fall is buying boots. When I first saw these boots a few months ago, and knew they were Steve Madden, I went on a hunt for them. They were no where to be found! Finally, I stumbled upon them while shopping on the Nordstrom website. I was just looking through the shoe section (for a different pair of boots, actually), and when I saw them, I ordered them right then and there (I really am such an impulsive buyer-it's becoming a problem...) I like to pair these boots with more feminine pieces so I decided to throw on my new favorite floral printed jacket. When I bought this pink beanie I wasn't sure how much use I'd be able to get out of it, but I was very happy that it matched this jacket perfectly and added some more femininity to the look.

Out of the Box

One of my absolute favorite fall trends is these silky, slouchy pants. I can't get enough of them. I want them in every color and every print. They are literally so comfortable and I'm obsessed with the way they look, especially with booties or sneakers. My first instinct would normally be to pair these baroque-inspired pants with a solid shirt, but I've been training myself to think outside of the box and mix prints for a more interesting look. The key to mixing prints is to choose pieces with a similar color scheme or a similar "theme" to the print. I decided to pair these pants with a black and white grid printed sweater.

Dressing for Fall

This morning I went to my boyfriend's football game to watch him & his team play. For me, Sundays are all about being casual and comfortable so I decided to wear this adorable, free flowing dress. I'm obsessed with the burgundy color of this dress..I think I need to own everything in this color! It was a little chilly this morning so I decided to add a chunky sweater over my dress and tights to keep me warm. I really love the way you can transition any cute sundresses you may have had for summer into the fall season just by adding a few pieces to your outfit.

Camoflouge and Burgundy

Today was one of the most gorgeous days in a while. I have been pretty upset recently about summer coming to an end, but I will take this fall weather any day! Luckily, it was my day off from work, which I spent running around and doing some errands, and mostly relaxing, which was just what I needed. I decided to wear a pair of camoflouge printed jeans that I got last Christmas. Even though they were from last year, camo is still very in this season, which I am happy about because I think it is such a great print. The colors are perfect for fall and easy to match. I paired it with a basic white t-shirt, my current favorite booties, a beanie (bad hair day life-savers) and I was good to go. I especially love the camo mixed with the burgundy color of my beanie. I brought a jacket but definitely didn't even need it, so I put it back in the house before leaving!
